John M. Starr has been involved in the Boise area real estate since 1981.  He currently specializes in Land Acquisition and Disposition.  John began his real estate career in Nampa, Idaho, buying and remodeling residential properties while in high school.  After college, he spent two years in Seattle working for Seattle Pacific Realty in the Leasing and Land Acquisition department. 

Upon his return to Boise, he worked for the Idaho Housing Agency as their Commercial Loan Underwriter and was the sole underwriter for Section 42 - Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.  He also helped write the manuals for that program in the state of Idaho. 

During the 1990's, John built up a thriving property management business; managing 350 residential units and 40,000 square feet of commercial space.  He sold the business after 6 years and did consulting work for multifamily properties in Boise, Montana, Wyoming and Utah.

Prior to joining Colliers International, John was the Director of Land Acquisition for the Hubble Group’s land development branch, Providence Development Group.  Hubble is consistently the number two home builder in Idaho.

-Identified and negotiated land and lot purchases for a production residential builder totaling $40,000,000 in four years.

-Rafted whitewater rivers in Idaho every month of the year in a 12 month period.

-Snow skied 68 consecutive days one season.

-In 2004, John was instrumental in the acquisition and subsequent re-sale of the last large acreage (300+ acres) in the North Meridian area of impact. He was also involved in transactions totalling over 1,000 acres in the path of growth in Ada and Canyon Counties.
