Background
Black & Decker is one of the worlds best known manufacturer and marketer of power tools, well established in the European region.  Following a review of its business in the late 1990’s, they identified a need for an outsourced real estate specialist with team back up to work within the organisation to provide a strategy for its real estate in line with its changing business needs.

Objective
To provide a flexible resource able to fully integrate with the Business and report to the European FD on establishing and implementing a real estate strategy in line with Business needs.

Fulfilling the objective
Working as a Black & Decker employee, the outsourced Real Estate Director provides a full range of property consulting services using the support of Colliers International and other best in class service providers.  The individual has the full authority and responsibility to represent the interests of Black & Decker in all of his dealings with internal business units, external advisors and outside real estate vendors or purchasers.

Projects undertaken include:
• Relocation of manufacturing base from UK to Czech Republic.
• Disposal of surplus property in UK and Italy
• Sale and leaseback of facility in Germany
• Disposal of facilities in Spain.
• Office acquisitions in Belgium, Ireland and Spain
• Review and restack of European HQ in UK.
